Early in the morning is one of the best times to get sets of weight lifting done. People often forget how crucial weight lifting is towards maintaining a healthy physique. Weight lifting increases muscle mass, metabolism and reduces body fat. Yet somehow, fitness experts and gym goers alike tend to neglect the overall importance on strength training and it shows. It is very simple, try and spend as much time working out on your home gym as you do on your cardiovascular home fitness equipment. Nine out of ten people that call and speak to our fitness experts are inquiring about treadmills and ellipticals and that is great, but there needs to be an equilibrium that incorporates weight lifting too.
Every year around this time the Kings of Cardio begin an amazing 8 day clearance sale on all of our fitness equipment. In an effort to liquidate our surplus, we are now cutting costs on all exercise equipment to all time lows, that are far below minimum advertised pricing guidelines. Never before could you buy a top-of-the-line cardio piece, for 50% off of its minimum advertised price, but now you can. We have rowing machines that need to go. Thousands of treadmills that we are are basically giving away. Our Life Fitness and Precor Ellipticals are being sold for such low prices right now, that Precor and Life Fitness called us directly to find out what is going on! Sarah Barker, our receptionist, told both companies that we are giving the people what they want; Home gym equipment with fantastic reviews, at the guaranteed lowest price in the nation!
There are so many things that hold people back from living their life to the fullest and staying healthy. We do not want one of those things to be the cost of the sports gear, so we guarantee for 1 full year after you purchase home fitness equipment with us, that if you find the piece of fitness equipment you purchased with us, whether a new treadmill, used elliptical, or demo exercise bike, for a lower pirce than you bought it for, we will refund you the differnce, plus a 10% cash spiff. For those of you unfamiliar with professional boxing, there is a HUGE match this weekend, on 9/19, this Saturday night. The United States best pound for pound fighter, Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather, faces off against Mexican living legend Juan Marquez, in what most expect to be a lopsided bout. This sentiment is reflected by the current Las Vegas odds which make Mayweather a 4.3:1 favorite, meaning that in order to earn $1 off of betting on Mayweather to win, you must bet $4.30. We here at Kings of Cardio would love to hear who everyone likes and why!
What is very interesting about this fight is the great physical condition both fighters are in and HBO documented their training every step of the way. Their cardio routines are insane. They are not running on treadmills, they are running up mountains, and do not rest. In order to be the best you can’t just go to the gym and use the Life Fitness 95Xi for 20 minutes and then leave. That will not have you lookng like the Floyd Mayweathers and other great athletes of the world. However, if you have a comprehensive home gym, including treadmills, ellipticalls, rowing machines and free weight equipment, then you will halfway there. The other half will be whether or not you actually use the home gym equipment. So many people buy a Life Fitness treadmill or Precor elliptical and they end up only using them as coat hangers!
Somehow people have turned against building muscle mass and as far as I can remember, there have not been any reputable athletes that have not endorsed lifting weights. Go and pump some iron today. Weight lifting will increase your muscle mass, tone your body and make your clothes feel tighter when you put them on, if you are a true weight lifting machine then you know what I am talking about. Add weight lifting to any cardio routine and it will dramatically increase your overall results from exercising. If you want to look sweet, fell good and be a champ, then you have to mix up your home gym exercise routines and not just walk on the treadmill for a mile or so. That is for wimps and simps!

For the past 2 months I have been doing a workout which has been great, I have already seen amazing results. I had gotten out of my workout because I was to busy working and making other excuses, I no longer had a ton of time to go to the gym so for a few months I was working out once… maybe 2 times a week if I was lucky. After a few months of this routine, I started to notice how out of shape I was getting and my energy level was way down. Due to the fact that I stopped exercising as much and had basically given up on my cardio and strength routines, I started to feel pretty lousy.
So I made a commitment to get back in shape. Since the gym took up so much time and I didn’t want to fall back into old habits of making excuses, I decided the first step would be to buy a piece of Cardio equipment for the house. This decision was due mostly in part to the fact that it will be much easier to work out whenever I want, instead of having to go to the gym, sit in traffic, hope someone isn’t on the equipment I am on, and most of the time, when I am really excitied and decide to go to the gym, after sitting on my but in the car for the whole ride there, Im not even pumped up any more by the time I walk in the gym!
After much debate and some research I found The Kings Of Cardio, Scott was the fitness expert I dealt with there and he went above and beyond to help me find something that would motivate me to get up every day and use it. We decided on a Cross Trainer made by Ketler The Alpine Trainer is what its called. Along with that, my fitness expert put 30 min calisthenics workout plan together which I have been doing after my cardio. That keeps my muscles, tendons and joints warm and loose……
So now its been 2 months and I have to say I have never felt better. So if anyone is curious, here is a typical day for me as far as working out and eating goes..Wake Up 6:30 am Make coffee and head downstairs to work out… Ten Minutes of stretching 6:45 am to 7:30….Then, Eliptical workout 7:30 to 8:00. When that is over, 4 sets Lunges on both legs 20 total is next. Followed by, 4 sets of squats 15 per set, 4 sets of pull ups, 4 sets of dips 15 per set, 4 sets of push ups 15 per set, 2 sets crunches 20 per set 2 sets leg lifts 20 per set. And that’s that!!!!!
This may sound like a lot but it only takes half and hour and there are no weights involved. In the beginning just do what you can do, you will work up as you go. Success is a journey, not a destination. Remember that. One thing that Scott emphasized to me, over and over, which he said the owner taught him, is that Winners don’t quit, and quitters dont win. So yeah, it may look like a lot of physical training and exercise, but its well worth it, and you get out what you put in.
As far as eating goes I have been making smoothies in the morning with bananas blueberry’s strawberry’s, soy milk and granola. As far as the rest of the day goes I try to eat as healthy as possible for lunch i will usually have a salad with grilled chicken and for dinner I try to stick with fish or chicken and fruits and vegetables. One of the keys for me has been not to stick to some sticked diet you have to live a little bit or what your doing won’t last, so I just try to stay healthy without depriving myself of the things I like. So I hope this is helpful to someone it sure was for me. – Jimmy Weis

Weight lifting and strength exercises are just as important to maintaining good health as cardio exercises. Most of us go to the gym, stretch for ten minutes, turn our Mp3 player on, hop on the treadmill or elliptical and then hit the shower. We need to keep in mind that lifting weights, as well as other forms of muscle building, is absolutely essential if you want to remain healthy and maintain a great looking physique. Some people still believe that lifting weights stunts growth, reduces mobility, and that strength training does not have as significant of an impact on our daily lives as cardio routines such as running, jogging, biking, climbing stairs and so on. Nothing could be further from the truth. Lifting weights and building muscle mass is just as important to your health as cardio exercises. The Kings of Cardio are and have been on the front lines of fitness since the 1980’s so trust us when we tell you that you must compliment your cardio routine with strength training.
Through proper and effective weight lifting, one is able to raise their metabolism, increase their endurance, build muscle and lose weight. People commonly think that strength training is not as significant as cardio training when it comes to burning calories and losing weight. The reason that people who state that strength training doesn’t help lose weight are wrong is because when you lift weights you build muscle mass, and when your muscle mass is increased, so is your resting metabolic rate. Therefore, you actually burn more muscle even in your sleep from lifting weights.
