Today I started training for my latest goal which is to get down to 175 lbs. by January 1st. First, a few facts about myself, and then you will be judge more acuartely as to whether or not I will be able to get down to 175 Lbs. My name is John, doesn’t matter my name, but I am 5’10, 195 Lbs. and I have a standing bet for $1000.00 with my girlfriend on whether or not I will be able to lose the weight (20 Lbs.) by the new year. I have already lost 9 pounds and I am down to 186 pounds right now. I get addicted to things easilly and before I even started training, I purchased some home gym equipment, health club quality of course, and some protein shakes, other amino acids, vitamins, and other nutritional supplements. Let me say, the Treadmill is a horse! Life fitness also makes some great elliptical cross-trainers but my wife LOVES Precor and I didn’t want to buy 2, mostly due to the fear of not using them both, so I decided to go with the because it exercises both your upper and lower body.

I have been searching for weeks trying to get my hands on the best treadmill available. The best units I have found are the Precor Treadmills, and the Life Fitness Treadmills. Would you agree? If so, what precor and Life Fitness models are your favorites? If you do not agree with my hypothesis that precor and Life Fitness make the best exercise equipment, then what brands would you reccommend? thanks – Travis

my husband and I LOVE THE PRECOR AMT 100i and was wondering if it has interactive heart rate programs? I use the heart rate handgrips on it all the time but I still have not figured out how to use the polar wireless chest strap in order to control the resistance level based off my target heart rate zone. For example, on many cardio machines such as elliptical units and treadmills, there are interactive programs that allow the user to vary the resistance according to their pulse. For instance, lets say Joe Smith sets his target heart rate to 130. When he is exercising on his elliptical, the resistance will insrease or decrease based on what John’s heart rate is at that moment. So, if John set his target heart rate to 130 and he was at 160 bpm, then the resistance of the elliptical would decrease so John would not be working out as hard, in turn, lowering his pulse. On the other hand, if John starts taking it easy, and his pulse falls to a calm 80 bpm, then the intensity of the elliptical will pick back up in order to get your heart rate back up.

I also had a really interesting weight loss bet with a close friend of mine. Is there anyway I could share my story? Basically, my best friend and i were becomming fatter than we ever imagined we could and figured that if we bet a lot of money on who could lose the most weight, then we would take it seriously. We actually purchased a Life Fitness 9500HR LifeCycle from you guys as well as a Precor 546i elliptical. Anyways, I will send in the rest of our home fitness bets later this week. Got to run…

What generates the momentum on the Life Fitness X3 Elliptical? I do not really understand the mechanics of fitness equipment and didn’t know if ellipticals were chain driven like exercise bikes or if they have flywheel?

It sounds like you’re creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place. Instead of needing to purchase fitness equipment, people should eat better and naturally exercise.

Great story! As for me, I have had trouble finding the time and motivation to use my HOME FITNESS EQUIPMENT! I mean seriously, after a long day at work and kids at home, it has been difficult for me to squeeze in the time to exercise on my Kettler fitness equipment.

    Hi There
I was really hoping that you could help me find the price of the Precor AMT 100i and the Life Fitness 95Ti? Thank you. I would like to say that those two pieces of cardio equipment are really the perferct combination for a health club or home gym. I used to use the old school Landice non-folding treadmill and a Schwinn air bike for my cardio routines but just eventually morphed into a Life Fitness and Precor lover. There is a reason their sports equipment covers gym floors whether you are in Florida, Alaska, or Japan. lol.

I am curious about what kind of home fitness equipment you think is best for someone who is not an experienced weight lifter? For the past four or five years, I have repeatedly told myself over and over that I am going to get in shape and lose weight. AS we all know, that is not as easy as it seems, and my thoughts of buying home fitness equipment have been replaced with ideas on how to decorate the home. Now I am ready to change and look forward to purchasing a health club quality treadmill, hopefully something like the Precor 966i, Life Fitness 97Te, or Precor 956i.

I enjoy reading your articles on home fitness equipment. Unbiased reviews are hard to find and it seems like youi guys really know what you are talking about when it comes to the benefits cons of all of the different fitness equipment on the market. I used to go to Bally’s when I was in college and ever since I graduated and got a real job, I could begin to afford to buy fitness equipment for my home which is why I do not have to go to the gym anymore! Let me say that cutting out the time and energy it takes to go to the gym, allows me to have even that much more energy to work out, than I would have had if I had to drag myself through long traffic. Anyways I really like the way you guys explain the features and specs of the different exercise equipment and it is nice to have a web-site that is as user friendly as yours. AS far as I can see, the best elliptical is the Precor AMT 100i and the best treadmill is the life fitness 95Ti. Would you guys agree with that? Both of those units seem to have high mechanical capacities and they are able to hold up for long periods of time, even under gym settings

My friend and I were recently talking about how modern society has evolved to become so integrated with technology. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

The electronics in home fitness equipment have become so technologically advanced that some of these treadmills and ellipticals out there look like space ships!

Do you have any home fitness equipment stores in Alabama? I have two sons, 12 and 16 and I am looking for a double weight stack home gym. We want a strength machine that all of us can use at once, so would we be better off with a 4 weight stack gym like the Bodycraft X4?

My wife likes to use the Stairmaster at her gym and I am having difficulty finding out which model it is that she likes. I do not want to ask her because I want it to be a surprise for her when I buy it. I have noticed online that there are several different models of Stairclimbers made by stairmaster 4400PT, 4600PT, 4600Cl and 7000 PT! lol! How am I ever going to figure out which StairMaster it is thjat she likes? I am pretty sure that it is not the 7000PT because I don’t think that she likes the revolving staircase workout. please post on this home fitness equipment forum you guys have going on and I woul really appreciate it. thanks

6 out of 10 People in the US, Canada and Europe are Over weight, so losign weight has become the most important goal for many around the globe. If someone is a lazy slob who wants a ‘magic pill’ to give him a fabulous bpdy, that will always remain as a dream.
One should be willing and determined to in efforts over a period of time and only then they can get lasting results. I find a few programs quite interesting and effective, you can also check some programs here and rate them based on your experience.

In today’s rocky economic climate, most households are cutting back wherever they can, and have stopped purchasing treadmill fitness equipment. I too faced the problem and wanted to cut down on
non-necessities such as ellipticals and recumbent bikes, but I love buying fitness equipment. It just gets me excited to run on a treadmill with a 500 lb. weight capacity and 4.0hp ac drive motor.
I have somehow left out the need for health club quality cardio and strength equipment.
